Do you know your feng shui Kua number?
Kua number is very popular in feng shui. It is both a concept and a tool, and even though mostly used in Classical feng shui schools, many people who apply the Western feng shui school also apply the Kua number info.
What is so special about the feng shui Kua number and, more importantly, how can the Kua number info help you?
To begin with, the word Kua (the same as the word Gua used in the BaGua) is a concept from ancient Chinese cosmology and can be found not only in feng shui, but in several Oriental martial arts. It is a very complex notion that cannot be easily translated into one Western word; the accepted (and, of course, much simplified!) meaning of the word Kua is Life Area, or simply Area.
Feng shui-wise, the concept of feng shui Kua number comes from the so-called Flying stars school of feng shui which energetically divides all people into the East and West group. Each group has four Kua number types, so the East Kua number group has the numbers 1, 3, 4, 9 and the West Kua number group has 2, 5, 6, 7, 8.
Still, what does that have to do with you? Well, the most practical application of the feng shui Kua number is the fact that once your know your Kua number, you can find out your lucky and unlucky directions, which is the main reason Kua number is actually used in feng shui nowadays.
