When to Call Your Doctor About Neck Pain
Most neck pain symptoms related to arthritis can be managed at home with rest and anti-inflammatory medication. In rare instances though, neck pain may be a sign of a more serious condition such as a brain or spinal tumor that is pressing against a nerve. See your doctor if you experience any of the following:
- Neck pain that lasts beyond two weeks
- Intense neck pain that occurs after an accident or injury (in which case, see your doctor immediately)
- Pain shooting down your arms in addition to the neck pain
- Weakness in your arms in addition to neck pain
Arthritis may literally be a pain in your neck, but there are ways to manage your discomfort. Start a conversation with your doctor today about how to best keep your neck flexible and pain-free.
